Vøringsfossen

Summer on Hardangervidda

Vøringsfossen

One of Norway's most iconic waterfalls - easily reached from Hardangervidda.

Quick intro

Vøringsfossen is one of Norway's best-known natural attractions, with a waterfall drop of around 182 metres into Måbødalen valley.

The main viewpoint area is around 700 metres above sea level, where the mountain plateau meets the valley.

The area includes more than one kilometre of well-secured paths and several viewpoints. The step bridge over the Bjoreio river links Fossli and Fossatromma.

Parts of the attraction close in winter, so it is wise to check seasonal conditions before you go.

  • Use solid shoes: even with secured paths, surfaces can be wet and slippery near the falls.
  • Expect changing mountain weather and temperatures throughout the day.
